Eight Sleep’s new Pod 6 smart mattress cover cools faster and fits under your bed

Eight Sleep is introducing Pod 6, a smaller and more powerful version of its temperature-controlled sleep system. It marks the brand’s biggest hardware redesign to date, with updates that make the Pod easier to fit into bedrooms and accessible to more sleepers.

The redesigned system responds to temperature changes faster, tracks sleep with more sensors, and fits underneath most standard bed frames.

A smaller system with faster cooling

The biggest physical change is the Hub, the part of the Pod that powers its temperature control. It is half the size of the previous version and can now slide underneath most standard bed frames, freeing up the space it previously occupied beside the bed. The brand worked with industrial designer Joe Tan on a ribbed exterior, so the Hub doesn’t look out of place if it’s left visible.

Despite its smaller size, Pod 6 responds to temperature changes 20% faster than previous generations. That means it can cool the bed more quickly during night sweats or hot flashes, while independent controls continue to keep each side at a different temperature.

More sensors for sleep tracking

The Pod 6 Cover also gets a major sensor upgrade, tracking heart rate, breathing, movement, and sleep stages without requiring a wearable.

The Cover now has nine times more biometric sensors than Pod 5. Eight Sleep says the added sensors can better separate each sleeper’s data, even when couples sleep close together.

Pod 6 is also the first generation available in solo sizes. The cover fits Twin and Twin XL mattresses or one side of a Queen, King, or California King bed.

By adding single-sleeper sizes, Eight Sleep is opening the Pod up to Solo sleepers and smaller bedrooms for the first time.
