David Protein expands beyond bars with ready-to-drink milkshakes

Each bottle contains 30 grams of protein, 140 to 150 calories, and less than one gram of sugar.

David Protein has launched its first ready-to-drink protein shakes, bringing the macro-focused approach behind its popular bars to a bottled format.

Made with ultra-filtered milk, the 12-ounce shakes contain 30 grams of protein and less than one gram of sugar. Vanilla has 140 calories per bottle, while Chocolate has 150.

What’s inside

The new shakes follow the same basic formula that made David’s bars stand out: fit as much protein as possible into relatively few calories.

David shakes are made with ultrafiltered milk and contain 30 grams of protein.

Ultra-filtering concentrates the protein naturally found in milk while removing some of its sugar and water. The result is a thick, creamy shake with roughly the same number of calories as one of David’s original bars, but two additional grams of protein.

The milkshakes are available in Vanilla and Chocolate, and David says each batch is third-party tested to confirm its protein content and purity.

Behind the launch

David first drew attention with its high-protein, low-calorie bar, and since then, the brand has expanded into frozen desserts and now ready-to-drink shakes.

Protein shakes are already a crowded category, but David is carrying over its existing approach into a format that is easier to grab from the fridge and drink on the go.

The launch also reflects how sports nutrition brands are broadening their appeal. David’s “Drink David” campaign features model Stella Maxwell and metallic gold bottles, presenting the shakes more like a lifestyle product than something made only for the gym.

Where to get them

David Protein Milkshakes are available at drinkdavid.com and at select stores in New York City.
