Sleep or Die, a sleep supplement brand with an unapologetically blunt name, just launched its Sleep Strips—oral-dissolving strips designed to help you fall asleep without the planning, timing, or waiting that come with pills and gummies.
Each mint-flavored strip contains four ingredients working together to help your body wind down:
The strips are gluten-free, sugar-free, and nut-free.
Sleep or Die strips dissolve on the tongue and skip digestion entirely, which is the mechanism behind the faster onset, and they don’t require water or even swallowing. According to the brand, each strip takes about 10 minutes to fully dissolve.
But then the question remains: who is the brand built for? Sleep or Die’s own positioning suggests current sleep products don’t necessarily reflect who’s actually losing sleep. More than one in four women in the US experience insomnia, compared with fewer than one in five men, often tied to hormonal shifts, caregiving, and chronic stress.
Sleep or Die’s packaging, bright red and shaped like a cigarette box, is a pointed break from the norm in the sleep aisle. The site’s own messaging backs that up, down to the name of it’s own blog, the Dead Tired Diaries. It’s not talking to the woman easing into a wind-down ritual; it’s talking to the one who is genuinely exhausted, still awake, and frustrated that rest hasn’t come easily. The brand seems to frame sleep less as something to pamper yourself with—and more as something you really want (and need) to happen. Whether that positioning actually wins customers over in an industry still selling calm and softness is worth watching.
Sleep Strips are available now at sleep-or-die.com for $54.00 (30-count). The brand also offers 2- and 3-month supplies, plus a subscription option so you never run out.
