Between being a fitness instructor and health editor, I like to think I have a solid grip on what it takes to live a healthy lifestyle. So things like lifting heavy, hitting my fiber and macro goals, and staying on top of my sleep aren’t just things I write about, they’re built into my daily routine. But when you follow the same routine day in and day out, it’s easy to develop blind spots. Despite doing all the “right” things, I’d been dealing with consistent afternoon energy crashes that were making it hard to concentrate at work. While I’m always looking to optimize my routine (as any wellness-obsessed, data-driven writer would), I mostly just wanted to see if there was a true biological reason behind my fatigue.
Superpower’s comprehensive biomarker test was the tool I chose to help me figure it out. Since the platform tests 100+ biomarkers — far more than my typical yearly physical — to map out your health, I was curious to find out whether an AI-driven blood test actually lives up to the hype as part of a routine optimization.
Here are my thoughts.
Getting started was super simple. Superpower’s annual membership costs $199 (though it jumps to $399 if you live in New York or New Jersey due to state lab regulations). The fee covers your initial 100-plus biomarker panel, is fully HSA and FSA eligible, and simply requires filling out a quick online questionnaire.
Instead of just asking for a dry medical history, the intake form actually dives into what I wanted to optimize when it came to my lifestyle. I logged my current habits when it comes to recovery, training and nutrition along with my long-term priorities, like disease prevention and future fertility. I actually liked that they asked for the full picture — It was nice to know they were factoring in my actual day-to-day routine before just pulling my blood.
After choosing the standard blood panel, I scheduled an appointment at my local Quest Diagnostics. I arrived after fasting for 10 hours, and the actual blood draw was over in minutes. Eight days later, I received an email that my results were ready. All it took was a quick login to dive into the data.

Superpower’s “Digital Twin” calculates your biological age and scores your overall health.
Instead of just sending over a confusing medical document, the desktop site and app build a visual “Digital Twin” of your body. My dashboard color-coded 129 different biomarkers, giving me an overall health score of 86 out of 100 and a biological age of 21.3. I was particularly interested in seeing how my body is actually aging based on my daily habits, so having everything visually mapped out offered incredible perspective — especially when trying to spot trends across different categories.
The platform also generates a personalized “Action Plan” (which you can easily download as a PDF for your own records or to share with your doctor). The plan breaks down your daily to-dos and the big-picture goals you’re working toward.
My favorite feature was the AI chat tool. My folate levels were flagged as high, and when I asked the AI to explain it, the response was surprisingly reassuring and educational. It pointed out that because I don’t take a multivitamin, the likely culprit was fortified foods — like bread, pasta, and cereals. Apparently, this is a super common biomarker to have flagged in the US for that exact reason. It also told me exactly how to balance it out by eating more B12-rich foods like salmon and eggs, just to make sure the high folate wasn’t masking a B12 deficiency. It’s incredibly useful how it compares your bloodwork to your actual lifestyle and habits instead of just spitting out generic info. While this obviously isn’t a replacement for a medical doctor, it gave me solid insights to bring up at my next appointment.

A look at Superpower’s AI chat tool.
The layout of the personalized protocol breaks down your specific health goals and gives you a clean, actionable list of supplements and dietary strategies to add to your routine. However, the actual advice might feel a bit basic if you’re someone who already makes wellness a daily priority. It told me to add Zone 2 cardio, eat a Mediterranean diet, and take magnesium glycinate — things I already do. When your routine is already dialed in, being told to take a standard multi to “build your foundation” feels a bit underwhelming.
While the AI health space is flooded with new products, I really appreciate how Superpower biomarker data provides an easy-to-understand picture, uncovering insights I didn’t have access to before. For $199, it’s definitely worth it for the depth of data you get. In the past, I’ve asked doctors for these exact tests, only to be told they aren’t “medically necessary,” and wanting to know more about my own body isn’t a sufficient response. It’s a frustrating reality of our healthcare system, which is why I appreciate Superpower making this level of testing accessible.
It’s also nice to get a sense of confirmation that my current habits are paying off. Now, all I have to do is download the PDF of my results and take them straight to my doctor to discuss certain biomarkers or just compare with future lab work. While the AI advice in my case was a bit overly simplistic, the test itself provides an incredible way to track your internal health.
