The Absorption Company, the supplement brand co-founded by Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed, just launched WLP-1, its first move into weight management. It’s an oral GLP-1 biomimetic designed to support the same appetite-regulating hormone pathway targeted by injectable weight loss drugs, without a prescription or needle.
GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) is a hormone your gut produces naturally after eating. It signals fullness to your brain and helps regulate appetite. The injectable drugs work by flooding your system with a synthetic version of it. WLP-1 takes a different path: its tri-peptide formula is designed to help your body produce more of its own GLP-1 and reduce the enzyme (DPP-4) that breaks it down before it can do its job.
The formula works across three mechanisms. IGOB131, an Irvingia gabonensis seed extract, targets GLP-1’s natural production and preservation while also supporting leptin function to reduce appetite and cravings. Body Ready WLP-1 Tripeptide Complex, which includes Grains of Paradise and reduced glutathione, works alongside it to further support the GLP-1 pathway. Then there’s thermogenesis: Capsifen, a red chili pepper complex standardized to 2% capsaicinoids, supports increased calorie burn at rest with 20x greater bioavailability than standard capsaicin so it actually reaches your system. CQR300, a Cissus quadrangularis extract, works at the gut level to inhibit the enzymes responsible for fat and carbohydrate digestion, reducing caloric uptake.

An Oral GLP-1 biomimetic.
The clinical data is ingredient-level, not a WLP-1-specific trial. Within those trials, results from populations with a BMI of 25 or higher include up to 12% reduction in body weight over 10 weeks, a 321% increase in circulating GLP-1 levels over 16 weeks, and a 22.3% improvement in uncontrolled eating scores.
The GLP-1 supplement category has gotten loud. Most of what’s in it is noise, including proprietary blends, vague “supports metabolism” claims, and an opportunistic rebrand of whatever was already on the shelf. The ingredient-level clinical data at this level at least gives it more to stand on.
