SPYRE combines protein, hydration, and energy in one sparkling drink

27g of clear whey, 2,000mg of electrolytes, and 160mg of caffeine.

SPYRE launched a ready-to-drink performance bottle designed to replace three products most gym goers consume daily. Each 12 oz aluminum bottle combines clear whey protein, an electrolyte blend, and natural caffeine. It’s meant to be packaged as a light, carbonated drink rather than a traditional, heavy protein shake.

What’s in it

The formula has three distinct functions, each handled by a separate ingredient system.

Protein. SPYRE uses 27g of beta-lactoglobulin (BLG), a specific whey protein fraction with a high concentration of essential amino acids, including all nine your body can’t produce on its own. Unlike conventional whey concentrate or isolate, BLG dissolves completely clear when mixed with liquid, which is what makes carbonation possible. The brand reports there’s no chalkiness, milky texture, or protein aftertaste, which are common with many alternatives.

Hydration. The electrolyte blend covers sodium, potassium, magnesium, and chloride at a combined 2,000mg per bottle, calibrated to approximate what the body loses during roughly an hour of intense training. That’s a meaningful dose compared to most electrolyte products on the market, which tend to skew low on sodium in particular.

Energy. 160mg of caffeine—roughly equivalent to a strong cup of coffee—comes from tea rather than synthetic sources. It’s paired with 80mg of L-theanine, an amino acid that takes the edge off caffeine’s stimulant effect without blunting the alertness, and a B-vitamin complex that supports energy at the cellular level.

The drink contains no artificial sweeteners or colors and comes in four flavors: Raspberry, Lemon Lime, Dragonfruit, and Watermelon.
