The Drop: Chicago-based Kailo launched a line of clean protein bars featuring nostalgic flavors, simple ingredients, and zero added sugar.
Founded by Sri Kalapala, Kailo emerged from a simple frustration: why are so many “healthy” protein bars filled with artificial ingredients and still taste mediocre?
What started for Kalapala as an experiment, making homemade bars for friends and family in 2018, has evolved into a mission to make clean eating both effortless and genuinely enjoyable.
Kailo has launched with three plant-based flavors.
“With Kailo, we’re proving that clean eating doesn’t have to be complicated or full of compromises,” says Kalapala. “Kailo isn’t about following trends – it’s about getting back to what food should be: simple, delicious and something you feel good about eating.”
Each Kailo bar boasts 14+ grams of plant-based protein and zero added sugar, using dates as a natural sweetener. The ingredient list is refreshingly straightforward – you won’t need to Google anything you find there.
Kailo is positioning itself as the solution for those who want real food ingredients without sacrificing flavor, targeting the sweet spot between nutrition enthusiasts and everyday snackers looking for better options.
The launch lineup features three nostalgic flavors:
“We’re not just selling a bar,” Kalapala says. “We’re spreading a philosophy that eating well can and should feel good.”
Kailo bars are available now at kailobar.com and will hit select retailers including Chicago’s Foxtrot and Fairgrounds cafes later this month.
