Wong sees burnout as “a 360° experience,” that impacts the mind, body and spirit. “It can take a lot of forms that impact the nervous system in such extreme ways, so I look to be very thoroughly holistic on a day-to-day basis with rituals that I enjoy,” she explains.
“I’m focused on consistency with smaller, easier to manage habits that help me stay on top of my mental and physical health,” Wong adds. Her routine includes morning movement, early sun exposure, and optimizing her diet to eat healthier and more seasonally.
These daily practices, combined with carefully curated tools, help her maintain balance. Here’s Wong to share her top recommendations for avoiding burnout:
“One of the best gifts you could give yourself (and a friend). The space is beautifully designed and just exudes sophisticated chill. The variety of spaces for sauna, steam and cold plunge is perfect for a solo day to relax and detox on your time, or hang with friends in quiet conversation.”
“This is one of my favorite teas in the world and instantly brings me back to a quiet headspace. I’ll fly to Paris anytime to have this! It has an out of this world smell and taste– silky smooth, floral and coconut all at once. Plus, making tea is a ritual I tend to do daily to keep me grounded and very present. You can’t rush boiling water.”
“I got introduced to the sauna blanket as I was recovering from my last burnout and it was a game changer to help me up my endorphins in a relaxing way, and it also forced me to take long bouts to rest while using it. I slept better, felt more relaxed and actually sweat– all good things.”
“It’s hard to choose one gummy that I love the most, but this one is definitely the most versatile and of course super tasty, which makes you really enjoy it that much more. When I’m feeling the creep of stress, I take 2 to help calm my nervous system, keep me feeling steady and less scattered.”
“A super simple tool that works along the meridians of our body to tap trigger points for better circulation and release tension. I use this when I’m feeling deep knots and it’s helped me immensely find immediate pain relief.”
“One of the best instant cures for stress is music. Sound has such an incredible impact on your perception of yourself and the world, and as someone who is a bit of an audiophile, investing in a good speaker to experience music more ‘internally’ has been life changing. I love everything that Teenage Engineering does, and their speakers are a perfect medium.”
“The natural cooling of the stone is so great to use on my skin if it’s feeling inflamed and having one with a thicker edge is great for smoother strokes. I bought mine in Hong Kong from a street vendor, and recommend people to shop locally in Chinatown for one they like– they’re cheap!”
