Last month, Nike closed its fitness studios. Now it’s back to power your next strength class.

The sportswear giant just tapped strength and conditioning franchise The Yard Gym as its first global training partner.

Nike may have closed its fitness studios last month, but to no one’s surprise, the brand has already found a way back into the boutique fitness scene. Its next move: a massive partnership with one of the fastest-growing strength franchises in the space. The Yard Gym (TYG) has officially been named Nike’s first Global Nike Training Partner, a deal that makes it the exclusive footwear, apparel, and accessories provider for all of the franchise’s trainers and instructors.

A new way onto the gym floor

While Nike Studios focused on building a boutique concept from the ground up, this partnership lets the brand plug into a community that already exists. The Yard Gym has spent the last few years locking in a massive following around premium strength and conditioning. By teaming up, Nike gets to plug its products straight into a room where dedicated athletes already show up.

The Yard Gym’s signature turf and rig setup.

While Nike Studios was set on building a boutique concept from the ground up, this partnership lets the brand plug into a community that already exists. The Yard Gym has spent the last few years locking in a massive following around premium strength and conditioning. And that footprint is huge: originally from Sydney, they already have over 100 locations across Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico, and are actively expanding throughout the U.S. By teaming up, Nike gets to drop its products straight into a room where dedicated athletes already show up.

Beyond just outfitting a single workout, this move signals a broader shift in how major brands are reaching consumers. It will be interesting to see how Nike continues to tap into this performance-driven crowd — whether through more boutique partnerships or by stepping into the social recovery spaces that are currently dominating the wellness landscape. Either way, be ready to see a lot more of the swoosh during your heavy lifts.
