MILER RUNNING debuts its Dirt Collection, designed for serious trail runners

The Drop: MILER RUNNING has launched its Dirt Collection, designed for the demanding needs of trail and ultra runners.

MILER’s third permanent line, the Dirt Collection, focuses on enhancing performance in challenging off-road conditions. The collection consists of three matching black pieces — the Dirt Running 2-in-1 Short, Dirt Running ½ Zip SS Tee and Dirt Running ½ Zip Tank.

Ben Morrow, MILER RUNNING’s founder, explains the inspiration behind the collection: “As a designer, I was excited by the challenge of creating garments that could perform well during the course of a long trail or ultra run because I knew if I could surpass that standard, the product would stand out in other running disciplines too.”

To ensure peak performance each piece underwent a rigorous 12-month testing period, including trail races, ultra competitions, and multi-day running tours. Environments ranged from the Catskill Mountains, close to the brand’s HQ in New York, to the remote Alps of Europe, ensuring the gear could withstand diverse and challenging conditions.

“Every new trail brings variability and surprises, from the weather to the topography,” says Morrow. “To make the best running apparel, it was important to test the garments in as many environments as possible so that our customers could feel confident that they could buy one garment to take across the world.”

The collection addresses common challenges faced by trail and ultra runners. “Most trail and ultra runners are challenged to find extremely lightweight apparel that is also truly designed with durability and longevity in mind,” Morrow notes.

To meet this need, MILER RUNNING uses “a super unique Cordura® stretch nylon, woven in France by one of the best performance fabric mills in the world.” Additionally, each piece boasts a UPF 50+ rating for UV protection and bonded seams and hems to reduce chafing.

The collection was also designed with practicality in mind. “Most running brands overlook how to make apparel compatible with trail running gear like a vest, which is indispensable in any multi-hour run in a remote setting, so we paid careful attention to design nearly every detail,” says Morrow.

Here’s the lowdown on each piece in the collection:

Dirt Running 2-in-1 Short

The Dirt Running 2-in-1 Short features an adjustable belted waistband for a precise fit, with the belt doubling as a carry system for extra garments. Storage is ample with two drop-in hip pockets and two interior stash pockets — perfect for storing a phone or nutrition. 

Dirt Running ½ Zip SS Tee

Weighing in at less than 90 grams, the Dirt Running ½ Zip SS Tee is designed for minimal weight and maximum performance. Its vest-compatible construction prevents fabric pilling under hydration packs, while a standing collar protects the neck from both vest movement and sun exposure.

The tee incorporates semi-auto lock YKK zippers for easy adjustment during runs and uses VentGridTM nylon in high-sweat zones for enhanced breathability.

Dirt Running ½ Zip Tank

The collection’s ½ Zip Tank shares the same key features as its short-sleeved counterpart but in an even lighter package, weighing less than 70 grams. This piece is ideal for warmer conditions or as a base layer in variable weather.
