Hoka’s super comfortable everyday runner

Hoka says it ‘threw out the rulebook’ when creating the Skyward X, its new ultra-cushioned running shoe. The Skyward X has a 48mm stack height — breezing right past the 40mm sole thickness limit set by World Athletics, meaning this shoe would be ‘illegal’ in any sanctioned events. However, the Skyward X is designed as an everyday option, not a shoe for chasing race-day PRs.

The Skyward X features PEBA and EVA foams with a convex carbon fiber plate to add ‘spring’ to every step. But all this tech doesn’t come cheap — a pair will set you back $225.
