Superpower founder Max Marchione shares his approach to proactive health

How years of common symptoms shaped the way he thinks about testing, tracking, and sleep.

Max Marchione started thinking differently about healthcare after dealing with migraines, severe insomnia, fatigue, and chronic sinus problems from a young age. He saw between 10 and 20 doctors, but says each one tended to approach his symptoms separately.

Things changed when one doctor looked at the symptoms together. When he was able to address those issues as a whole, it made a significant difference, but the experience also left Marchione questioning how much can be missed when different parts of a person’s health are treated in isolation.

It eventually led him to co-found Superpower in 2023. The platform brings bloodwork, medical history, wearable data, AI insights, and clinician support into one place to help people manage their health before something feels wrong.

Looking beyond individual symptoms

Marchione’s experience made him less willing to dismiss symptoms simply because his initial results appeared normal.
“If you know your body well and something feels wrong, I think you should be able to keep digging and use better data to understand what’s actually happening,” he says.

It also changed how he approaches his own health. Rather than waiting for a specific problem, he uses testing and tracking to understand his baseline and notice when something begins to change.

Using health data more effectively

For anyone who wants to take a more proactive approach, Marchione recommends starting with a clear picture of where their health stands today. Bloodwork can establish a baseline, while wearables can add information about sleep, movement, and recovery.

Still, he says collecting more data is only useful when it leads to action.

“The goal is to treat your health like an ongoing experiment,” he says. “Test something, see what changes, adjust, and test again.”

That doesn’t require changing everything at once. Marchione recommends making one adjustment at a time, tracking the result, and using that information to decide what is actually worth keeping.

The routine he protects most

After dealing with insomnia for years, Marchione is now particularly protective of his sleep. He averages around seven hours a night and follows a routine that includes magnesium glycinate, L-theanine, and GABA.

He has also gone beyond supplements to understand his sleep. Marchione wore an EEG headband for a year to track what was happening overnight, rather than relying only on how he felt the next morning.

“When something has that much impact on how you think, feel, and perform every day, it’s worth being obsessive about figuring out what works,” he says.

Max Marchione’s Health Stack

Oura Ring
“Oura makes it easy to see patterns in my sleep, recovery, and daily habits over time. It takes very little effort but gives me a continuous feedback loop that helps me make better decisions about my routine.”
WalkingPad
“I use a walking treadmill while I work, which is one of the easiest ways I’ve found to build more movement into my day without scheduling another workout.”
Superpower
Microdosed GLP-1
“I use a microdose GLP-1 as part of my broader approach to metabolic health. I’m interested in its potential effects on appetite regulation and cardiometabolic health, while using the lowest effective dose.”
