Freaks of Nature drops two new mineral SPFs for full-body coverage

Mineral sunscreens are rarely available as sprays. The reason is mechanical: zinc oxide is tough to mist evenly, so most spray formulas reach for chemical UV filters instead, plus an aerosol propellant to push them out the nozzle. Freaks of Nature’s new first-ever spray SPF, Solar Shield Spray, skips both. It’s a 100% zinc oxide formula in an aerosol-free, 360-degree mist that lays down a thin, even layer of mineral protection.

The launch is part of the brand’s new Body by Freaks lineup, which also includes a Jumbo size of the fan-favorite Peak Performance Sun Stick. Co-founded by surf icon Kelly Slater, Freaks of Nature has been building out its sun protection system from multiple angles, including a sugar-free electrolyte with internal UV-defense ingredients earlier this year.

What’s in the launch

Solar Shield Spray uses zinc oxide as its only active ingredient. The 360-degree mist sprays at any angle, which means it can reach the backs of legs and shoulders without awkward arm contortions. SPF 30, 40-minute water resistance. Aloe, green tea, and jojoba for hydration and antioxidant support.

The Jumbo Peak Performance Sun Stick is the brand’s SPF 50 mineral stick in a bigger size. The original 0.70-ounce stick is great for face, ears, and tops of feet, but anyone using it for full-body coverage knows it runs out in about a beach day. The Jumbo size addresses that, and it pairs naturally with the spray rather than competing: stick for face and other small surfaces, spray for arms, legs, and back.
