Nike and Hyperice’s Air Zoom HyperSlide uses vibration and heat to reset athletes in five minutes

Nike and Hyperice are back for round two. Following last year’s HyperBoot, the brands are launching the Air Zoom HyperSlide, a recovery slide designed to work immediately after competition rather than hours later. It’ll be sold as a complete system, including the slides, removable temperature-changing pods, and a charging cable.

How the tech works

The HyperSlide is a slide-on recovery shoe that uses heat and vibration to help the body reset between or after workouts. It runs on two modalities: heat, with three comfort-level settings, and vibration, with three intensity levels at 50, 75, and 100 percent, both adjustable via Bluetooth through the Hyperice app.

Heat opens up the foot’s mechanoreceptors so they absorb vibration more effectively, and that vibration targets the central nervous system, a different recovery pathway than the HyperBoot’s circulatory focus.

The standout engineering detail is a 10mm Zoom Air bag in the footbed running at roughly 5 psi, far softer than the 12 to 20 psi found in performance running shoes, which lets air conduct vibration around the entire foot instead of just the point of contact.

A removable pod, which also houses the heater, attaches magnetically to a docking system on the adjustable strap, and battery life runs about an hour per charge, with additional pods sold separately for hot-swapping.

How athletes are putting it to use

Nike and Hyperice recommend a sequence: HyperSlide immediately post-competition for a fast reset, then HyperBoot afterward for deeper circulatory work. The slide’s advantage is accessibility. It’s easy to slip on courtside or trackside within minutes of finishing, which is exactly how it’s been showing up trackside, including on a long jumper’s feet during on-field interviews at the Prefontaine Classic. Tobi Amusan brought the HyperSlide to the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, and it’s been part of her kit through wear testing across track and field.
