The Drop: Nike has released the latest version of its Pegasus running shoe — the Pegasus 41.
Nike’s Pegasus has been a staple for runners since its debut in 1983. The latest iteration, the Pegasus 41, is the most advanced yet.
What’s new? The Pegasus 41 introduces ReactX foam to the Pegasus line. Compared to Nike’s traditional React foam, ReactX offers over 13% more energy return and significantly reduces the shoe’s carbon footprint by using less energy in the manufacturing process. It also lengthens the overall wear of the shoes.
In addition to the ReactX foam, the Pegasus 41 includes Air Zoom units in the heel and forefoot, ensuring a cushioned feel. The shoe also features Nike’s innovative Dynamic Midfoot Fit system, which ties the lacing to an internal midfoot band, wrapping your foot for complete support and a snug fit.
First thoughts: got my hands on a pair last month and have taken them out for a few runs. They fit slim — like a glove — yet provide a nice bounce. They’re also super lightweight, making the miles seem much easier.
The Pegasus 41 is now available on Nike’s website and via select retailers. It’s priced at $140 and comes in six colorways, but expect more styles to be available as the year progresses.
