AllTrails releases Apple Watch update for easier hands-free hiking

Compass, stats, and wrong-turn alerts on your watch.

The Drop: AllTrails rolled out a huge update to its Apple Watch app.

The Details: Elevating the outdoor experience

AllTrails’ latest update puts powerful trail navigation tools right on your wrist, allowing for a truly hands-free outdoor experience. Here’s what’s new:

  • Compass: Stay on course with new navigational guidance.
  • Real-time stats: Track your activity metrics including time on trail, pace, heart rate, distance remaining, and elevation.
  • Apple Health integration: Seamlessly sync your AllTrails activity with Apple Health.
  • Wrong-turn alerts: AllTrails+ members receive watch alerts if they veer off route.

The updated Watch app gives you real-time stats and compass features.

This update encourages users to keep their phones tucked away, helping them get the most from their time in nature. Now you can focus on conquering that summit or spotting wildlife, not watching a screen.

“AllTrails exists to help the world find its way outside, and we know many of our members explore the outdoors with a wearable device,” says Ivan Selin, chief product officer at AllTrails. “Now there’s no need to reach for your phone while taking in the views or holding your dog’s leash.”

Where to get it

The updated AllTrails app is available now in the Apple App Store. For Android users, AllTrails offers similar functionality on Android watches, and there’s also a Garmin integration available.
