Sweetgreen just rolled out a macro tracking tool, letting customers see real-time protein, carb, and fat breakdowns as they customize their bowls. The update follows a 25% increase in protein portions for chicken and tofu entrees earlier this year.
The new in-app calculator displays detailed macronutrient data for every menu item and updates instantly when ingredients are swapped. Making your Harvest Bowl with salmon instead of chicken? You’ll see exactly how that changes your protein count before you order.

Nine menu items now pack 30 grams of protein or more, with the Hot Honey Chicken leading at 52 grams. The Harvest Bowl delivers 40 grams, and the Chicken Pesto Parm comes in at 39 grams. All proteins — chicken, salmon, and steak — are cooked fresh daily in-house without seed oils.
“We’re always looking for ways to use technology to support personalization,” says Wouleta Ayele, Sweetgreen’s chief technology officer. The tool addresses growing demand for protein transparency as more customers track macros for fitness goals and general wellness.
In a world saturated with powders, bars, and protein snacks, Sweetgreen wants to highlight that wholesome food can deliver both performance and flavor, as well as help you to hit your protein goals.
The macro tracking feature is available now on Sweetgreen’s app and website.
