Nike just released its Hybrid footwear system for HYROX training

The new Hybrid Fly and Hybrid RN are built for everything from running intervals to heavy lifts.

Nike is expanding its training lineup with the Nike Hybrid footwear system, a new performance platform built specifically for hybrid training. The company says the system is designed to eliminate the tradeoff between traditional running shoes and training shoes with two models built for training and competition.

What’s in the launch

Nike’s new Hybrid system, a footwear line designed specifically for athletes who regularly alternate between running and strength training, includes two shoes for different phases of hybrid training.

The Nike Hybrid Fly is Nike’s race-day shoe. It combines ZoomX foam, a full-length carbon Flyplate, and dual Air Zoom units to help athletes maintain speed during runs while providing the grip and stability needed for strength stations like sled pushes, lunges, rows, and ski ergs. Additional features include race-lockdown laces, sticky rubber traction, and reinforced mesh for added durability.

The Nike Hybrid RN is designed for everyday hybrid training. It pairs ReactX foam with a forefoot Air Zoom unit to create a responsive ride during runs while maintaining the stability needed for lifting. A wide outsole, X-shaped upper overlays, and a dual-rubber outsole help keep the foot secure during transitions between running and strength exercises.

Nike’s new Hybrid lineup includes two purpose-built shoes: the Hybrid Fly for competition and the Hybrid RN for everyday training.

The hybrid training boom

Nike’s new Hybrid system is part of the brand’s broader push into hybrid training, one of the fastest-growing categories in fitness. Earlier this year, the company has expanded its investment in strength training, introduced new programming for strength-focused workouts, and built its Elite Training Division, bringing together elite hybrid athletes to help develop and pressure-test products built specifically for the sport.

The Hybrid Fly and Hybrid RN were developed with input from world-champion hybrid athletes Dylan Scott and Lauren Weeks, as well as everyday athletes, to capture the demands of transitioning between running and strength exercises. Nike says that feedback helped shape the design of both shoes around the movement patterns unique to hybrid training.

Where to get it

The Nike Hybrid RN will launch in China on September 24, then become available globally on October 8 at Nike.com and select retail partners. The Nike Hybrid Fly is scheduled to launch globally in April 2027.
